I am creating a custom (build-to-spec / BTS) part, why can't I specify the customer this part is for?

If you do not see the customer in the list, that means they haven't specified you as a supplier yet in their GDX account. Please inform your customer or Contact Support and let us know who the customer is. Once the appropriate entry is made in your customer's GDX account, you will be able to select them from the dropdown list.

Why can't I find the part I just created when searching the part number?

Make sure there is no leading or trailing space when you create your part.

Can I change "Off the Shell or Custom made" status after I create a part?

No, you cannot change it once the part has been made. Please indicate your parts before you create.

Can we post customer specific Certificates of Compliance?

For build-to-spec items, it is acceptable to publish customer specific Certificates of Compliance.

For off-the-shelf items, industry best practice is to publish certificates of compliance common to all customers. This will allow you to author your compliance information one time, and more importantly, make it easier to update your compliance information. If you make certificates of compliance that are customer specific, when you update them, you will have to update every single document each time. This is a time consuming process, and will negatively affect your supplier rating with customers.

Why does GDX show missing RoHS or REACH COC error message even if I attached document for RoHS and REACH?

GDX allows suppliers to indicate document attachment type present in the declaration. Attachment types include certificate (for Certificates of Compliance), test reports, datasheets and Material Content Disclosure (MCD). For RoHS and REACH, you must now indicate one of the documents you attached as the certificate of compliance; otherwise, GDX will not allow you to publish your parts.

What is the best way to declare a module or assembly?

If you supply modules, assemblies and other non-component products, there are different approaches to declarations in GDX, depending on your preferences and the size of your bom.
You can declare each of the sub-assemblies as separate materials, and "flatten" the hierarchy as necessary. The most popular method for creating FMD in this situation is to import a spreadsheet into GDX. See Importing FMD Using a Spreadsheet for steps and examples.
You can declare a rolled up summary of the product, combining substances and/or materials. A spreadsheet may also be utilized for import.

Where do I attach test reports?

You can attach your test reports in the documents list in the Material Declaration section.

After I enter this CAS#, why isn’t the corresponding substance name in the drop down list?

It can be two reasons, first the CAS# you entered is wrong. You can enter your substance name and find the correct corresponding CAS# in GDX. Second, the CAS# and corresponding substance are not in GDX database. For the second case, you can send a request email with CAS# and corresponding substance name to GDX Support.

Should I specify the exemptions in Material declaration level?

Yes. After you choose the exemptions in RoHS level, you need to specify the exemptions in material declaration. Otherwise, GDX will not let you publish.
For more information, please visit Material Disclosure.

Why can't I publish a part?

Check if you have any error message in Publishing Rules field. You will not be able to publish your part until you fix the errors.

There are two types errors.

First "Is the base part published"

Second "Is the part information complete"

When to use a part family in GDX?

Each family member inherits the compliance information from a Base Part. The Base Part contains the root declaration information for the family. A family should be created if a group of parts share the same declaration information, esp. material declaration.

Why can't I delete this part?

To identify:

  • Go to the part view
  • Click on Usage

you cannot delete the part until your Consumer unlinks it or deletes the part request.

Can I import IPC 1752 declarations into GDX?

GDX can import your IPC 1752 declarations, including 1752A and the obsolete 1752v1.x formats. This will automatically create the part in GDX with full material disclosure, RoHS status, and exemptions. Contact Support for assistance.
